How It Works

We are gathering 100 men (or more) from Lanark County to help put into place a simple funding source for charities that serve our County.  Join us!

It is pure-hearted generosity and a simple way of raising much needed donations for local community organizations. Donate just $100 and light up the faces of the people who help the people in our neighbourhoods.

Pure and simple! We meet...we vote...we donate!

I Commit To...

  • donating $100 per event, to a maximum of four times a year (i.e. my membership commitment).
  • remain current, and make the required donation to the Charity Voted for at the last Members meeting.
  • agree to donate to three consecutive charities to retain my Membership.
  • respect the decision of a membership vote and I agree to make my donation to the recipient charity regardless of how I voted or if I was absent and could not vote.

We Meet and Vote, by...

  • selecting up to 2 different charities in advance of a meeting for consideration at an upcoming Members meeting.
  • ensuring nominated charities are a properly constituted and registered Canadian Charity serving Lanark County and they use CanadaHelps for their donation campaigns.
  • honouring our time commitments to keep Member meetings to one hour or less.
  • respecting the meeting agenda, which starts with a five minute update on how the funds donated at the previous meeting were used by the recipient charity.
  • listening actively to the nominating Members of three randomly selected organizations (or the organizations themselves) who  make a brief, informal presentation (no PowerPoint) about the organization.
  • voting (by ballot) for one of the three charities. The charity with the most votes will be the recipient charity.

Donating to a Charity

  • Each Member will indvidually donate $100 to the recipient charity using CanadaHelps.org. Donations are typically made  electronically.
  • Members will receive a tax receipt directly from CanadaHelps for their charitable donations.
  • The recipient charity will receive the  amount previously calculated and declared at the members meeting,
  • Members can, of course, make private donations of money or time to the other two charities if they wish.
  • A charity not selected at one meeting stays in the pool for a subsequent meeting unless withdrawn by the nominating Member.
  • A recipient charity is not eligible for future consideration for a 3-year period;  the nominating Member may submit the name of another charity.
  • The recipient charity must agree not to give out Member information to any third parties except for tax purposes.

How To Donate

100 Men Who Care Lanark County and all nominated charities use CanadaHelps.org to seamlessly direct your donations.

Donations are made online through our CanadaHelps.org page. If you have never donated through Canada Helps, you can set up your account at this link to speed up the process when the time comes to donate. We will also email a donation link directly to members after each meeting so you won’t get lost along the way.

For logistical and financial reasons, CanadaHelps.org is the best way for our members to send donations to the winning charity. Cash, e-transfers or cheques are not preferred option.

*Please note: The recipient Charity is charged $4 per donation using Canada Helps. Please top up your $100 donation by adding $4.00 (i.e. $104 total) to cover their administration fee). .
